A band whose influences reach so far beyond influences extend so far beyond their native New Zealand that even those who have never heard of The Clean, have surely heard of some of their unique blend of garage rock, catchy tunes and psychedelic experimentalism Psychedelic experimentalism (Pavement, Yo La Tenga, etc.) (Pavement, Yo La Tengo and Superchunk, just to name a few) name a few).

    "Anthology" begins with The Cleans battle cry debut "Tally Ho!" - the story of the $ 60 recording bill is legendary by now. It's followed by the early EPs "Boodle Boodle Boodle" and "Great Sounds Great" full-lengths. The hits - "Billy Two." "Anything Could Happen", "Beatnik" and "Getting Older" and live favorites like "Point That Thing Somewhere Else" and the instrumentals "Fish" and "At The Bottom" conjure up memories of the joyous noise that distinguishes The Clean

    These recordings, which were mostly by the band with Chris Knox and Doug Hood at the helmet of the 4-track Perfectly captures the raw, gritty sound of a classic garage band Sound of a classic garage band. After a brief breakup, the band recorded the band recorded "Vehicle" in 1989. "Vehicle" was made in 3 days and engineered by Alan Moulder (Smashing Pumpkins, Nine Inch Nails, My Bloody Valentine).

    In addition to this selection of albums anthology "contains two songs that were only released as 7 "singles in the U.
